SEE OUR PORTFOLIO

Rekstur Architecture PLLC is a Brooklyn-based atelier of architects and fabricators, founded in 2011 and licensed in New York and New Jersey. From our studio in Williamsburg, we craft custom-built environments that balance thoughtful design with hands-on making.

Specializing in interior renovations, historic restorations, custom millwork, furniture, and hand-drawn ideation, we treat architecture as a craft—shaped through process, material, and close collaboration.

Our work spans residential, commercial, and industrial scales, from curated apartment renovations and ground-up buildings to cast metal hardware and one-of-a-kind built-ins. Each project is tailored through an iterative, workshop-style approach with homeowners, artists, and developers alike.

At Rekstur, we don’t just design spaces—we build environments that resonate, regenerate, and endure.

Adam Wiesehan (founder) is co-chair of the AIA Brooklyn committee on the environment (COTE)

About Us

“I can't recommend Adam more enthusiastically.

I am working with Adam on a gut renovation of my apartment in the West Village. We are in the final stretch.

It is a big project. There isn't a surface from the apartment's previous iteration that will survive. It isn't a "white box" project-- there are lots of custom design details, millwork, stone fabrication, steel fabrication -- even some custom designed furniture (bed, tv cabinet & dining table).

On the DESIGN side, Adam designed for us an apartment that (a) is original and unique -- while still being fresh and timeless (i.e., it doesn't reflect latest trends, it is truly original!), (b) reflects our personal taste and (c) reflects Adam's design talents (after giving him our initial design thoughts, we were almost 100% deferential to Adam on design decisions). I want to emphasize again -- we are getting an apartment that we feel is truly ORIGINAL, which makes us very happy.

On the EXECUTION side, Adam equally excels. Adam advanced the project methodically and, frankly, faster than we could process his recommendations/plans/questions to us. Once construction commenced, i.e., the project management portion, Adam has been indispensable. I meet Adam and the GC most every week at the apartment to review the progress, make detail decisions, and press forward. Adam has been all over the details, of which I have learned there are many in an undertaking a project like this. Adam will under-sell the need to have him involved in the project management. Let me tell you, you need him for this part of the undertaking. You don't know what you don't know on something like this (unless of course you do!).

Finally, on fees, Adam is thoughtful and fair on his fees/billing practices. His fees reflect the value he brings to the table.

I promise to post pictures when it is done! (It's getting there.)

To reiterate, my recommendation of Adam is the most enthusiastic recommendation I can make.

“Working with Rekstur Architecture during the build-out of our latest gallery space within The Shops at Columbus Circle was an amazing experience. The team's attention to detail, innovative design solutions, and responsiveness made the entire process smooth and successful. Their ability to bring our vision to life while navigating the complexities of New York construction was truly impressive. We highly recommend Rekstur Architecture for anyone looking to create a standout space. Their expertise is unmatched.”

“Adam Wiesehan of Rekstur Architecture brought new ideas to my and my wife's 1939 Manhattan co-op residential apartment renovation. The project was mostly a gut renovation, and Adam was timely in his response to our needs and requests from our building's reviewing architect. Though we live several states away, Adam worked with us via phone calls, emails, and in-person site visits. He provided draft drawing sets to us for our review and update, whereupon he revised for submission to the building's managing agent and board alteration committee for approvals. His drawings thoroughly incorporated our desired changes to the space, and were easily followed, even by non-architects like us. We recommend Adam for a residential renovation job, and encourage bringing him aboard at the very onset of the process.

“Adam was very helpful an flexible with my renovation project thinking through details and cost. After a lot of researching we found the best solution for my price point without sacrificing quality. Thank you so much!”
